UPDATE: Happy Ending for Lia

Back on May 29th, 2014, 3 dogs were found abandoned in an unoccupied home.

These dogs were severely neglected.

2 Yorkies and a Beagle were kept confined to crates and chained within the house, 24/7.

Pictured below, in order are Liam (SSPCA name), Lia (SSPCA name) and Mr. Beegle (SSPCA name).

They were immediately brought to a Veterinarian and cared for as needed.

Both Yorkies were seniors, the male older than the female.

Since they originally entered the shelter, Liam’s health was on the decline, despite all the Veterinarian’s efforts.

Unfortunately, the decision to euthanize had to be made for Liam’s sake.

Mr. Beegle has since gained some weight and is currently awaiting his new forever home (is this yours?).

Mr. Beegle...

And little Lia, with only 3 paws was adopted on 7/19/14 to a wonderful person who will now be caring for her every need for as long as possible.

The animals are ELATED!

The shelter is back to “business as usual”.

Only a handful of cats are still being treated for Giardia.

Those cats are being treated and are isolated from all the others.

All other animals at the shelter have tested negative 2 consecutive times.

If we have any suspicions we will retest those in question,

but for now we are in a much better place.

Please stop in anytime during our business hours:

Tuesday-Saturday

11am – 4pm!

Thank you to the Businesses who have supported our mission and sponsored a pet!

UPDATE ON THE SHELTER AND THE ANIMALS 10/22/13

The shelter is now OPEN in Limited Capacity. We are still treating for Giardia and a few animals are still testing positive fro this parasite.   What this means:   – The cat adoption rooms are currently CLOSED   – The dogs that will be available to be seen are only the ones that have been testing negative.   – We cannot currently let any animals go home for adop…tion that have other pets at home.   – We cannot accept any incoming animals at this time.   – We are recommending that you wash your hands thoroughly after leaving the shelter (Giardia is spread through feces, infected feces has to be ingested)   – If you are not comfortable coming into the shelter under these circumstances, please wait until we are open to full capacity.   Thank you all for your support and patience!
